Case Details
Located in Southern Africa, Gaborone is the transportation hub of Botswana. Urban main roads carry mixed traffic of private vehicles, freight trucks and passenger buses. Road congestion, temporary road maintenance and pedestrian crossing risks require real-time dynamic traffic reminders for road users.
The local transportation authority chose DAYU single-pillar cantilever LED Variable Message Signs for this intelligent traffic upgrading project. The cantilever structure stretches the display screen over the traffic lane, ensuring drivers can clearly view traffic information from a long distance without sight obstruction.
Adopting high-brightness outdoor LED modules, the variable message signs maintain outstanding visibility under intense sunshine, dust and sudden thunderstorms typical of the African savanna climate. The whole display cabinet reaches IP65 waterproof and dustproof grade, effectively resisting sand erosion and large temperature differences between day and night. The supporting remote management system allows traffic managers to instantly release speed limits, accident alerts, roadwork notifications and traffic diversion information.
After installation and operation, the cantilever variable message signs deliver timely traffic early warnings. Sudden lane changes and traffic conflicts caused by insufficient advance notice have been effectively reduced. This project acts as a typical intelligent transportation reference case for Botswana and surrounding Southern African countries.
