Case Details
The AP7 Highway is a crucial coastal arterial route on the eastern Iberian Peninsula, connecting Valencia, Alicante and multiple coastal cities. This highway features continuous curved sections and frequent road maintenance operations. Real-time traffic information release is essential to remind drivers of road construction, speed limits and potential traffic hazards ahead.
To strengthen active traffic management, the highway authority introduced DAYU outdoor LED Variable Message Signs (VMS) mounted on overhead gantries. These overhead gantry variable message signs are installed above main traffic lanes to deliver forward-looking road condition alerts to passing vehicles.
Equipped with high-brightness LED modules, the variable message signs maintain excellent readability under strong sunlight, cloudy weather, dusk and night time. The fully sealed cabinet structure offers outstanding resistance against UV radiation, temperature fluctuation, rain and dust, reliably adapting to Spain’s Mediterranean climate. The system supports remote wireless information update, enabling traffic administrators to instantly publish construction warnings, congestion notifications and emergency traffic guidance.
After commissioning, drivers can obtain advance road information far ahead, effectively reducing sudden lane changes and traffic accidents near roadwork zones. This project has become a representative intelligent transportation case for Spain’s coastal expressway network and laid the groundwork for future intelligent road renovation cooperation.
